Pallets, film, strapping and dunnage

Every format above rides on a pallet or in a container, held by film, straps and dunnage. Load failures in transit usually start here, not in the primary package.

RestraintStrapping, airbags and blockingStops load shift inside trucks and containers.

What to decide

  • Pallet size matched to the pack footprint and the destination market.
  • Wrap pattern and film gauge against the transit's acceleration and vibration.
  • Blocking and bracing for gaps in the container.

Inspection and handling

  • Reject pallets with broken boards or protruding nails; check film tension on receipt.

Rules to watch

  • ISPM 15 for wooden pallets in export, and cargo securing guidance such as the CTU Code.
  • Plastic film recyclability and recycled-content rules.
