Gas cylinders and pressure receptacles
Pressure receptacles are packaging, but they are designed, tested and refilled under their own strict rules. This page is an orientation; the filler and the cylinder owner hold the obligations.
Main types
| Cylinder | Single cylinder | Up to about 150 L water capacity. |
|---|---|---|
| Bundle | Bundle of cylinders | Cylinders manifolded in a frame and moved as one unit. |
| Tube / MEGC | Tube or multiple-element gas container | Large seamless tubes for bulk gas transport. |
What to decide
- Own, rent or use a gas supplier's cylinder fleet.
- Valve protection and securing during transport.
Inspection and handling
- Never fill or ship a cylinder past its periodic test date stamped on the shoulder.
Rules to watch
- Pressure receptacle provisions in the UN Model Regulations and national cylinder standards.
