Corrugated bulk and octabins
Corrugated bulk containers trade reuse for low tare, flat storage and paper-stream recycling. Liquid service depends on the inner bag; dry service depends on board grade and humidity.
Main types
| 11G | Fibreboard IBC | UN code for rigid fibreboard IBCs used with dangerous goods. |
|---|---|---|
| Octabin | Eight-sided corrugated bin | Resin pellets, granules and parts; the shape resists bulging. |
| Bag-in-box | Liquid bag in a corrugated outer | Pillow or form-fit liners, including aseptic bags. |
What to decide
- Board grade and wall count against stack height and warehouse humidity.
- Liner type: pillow, form-fit or aseptic, and how it drains.
- One-way use versus returning a heavier rigid IBC.
Inspection and handling
- Reject bins that are wet, crushed or delaminated before filling.
Rules to watch
- Recyclability criteria and minimising empty space in transport packaging under the EU regulation.
